Buffalo Chamber Music Society | Curtis on Tour
Tuesday, February 15, 2022
Mary Seaton Room, 8:00 pm
The Buffalo Chamber Music Society presents Curtis on Tour at Kleinhans Music Hall.
Among professional musicians, the Curtis Institute of Music ranks with, and many say above, its better-known New York counterpart, Juilliard. The illustrious Philadelphia conservatory will send to Buffalo three of its students and two faculty members, the violinist Ida Kavafian, a former member of the Beaux Arts Trio, and cellist Peter Wiley, former member of the Beaux Arts Trio and Guarneri String Quartet. They will perform one of the very greatest works in the chamber repertory, Schubert’s String Quintet in C Major, completed just months before the composer’s death. Also on the program will be a new quintet by the Grammy-winning American composer Richard Danielpour.
