SUNY Buffalo State College Photo Project
The following photos were taken at Kleinhans Music Hall by Buffalo State College students in September 2020. Under the direction of Yola Monakhov Stockton, assistant professor of photography, the class visited Kleinhans as part of an assignment in architectural photography. There, the students gathered in the parking lot and listened to a recording of Jean Sibelius’ “Finlandia,” a suggestion from Kleinhans Director Dan Hart for inspiration and connection with the architectural ideas of Eliel and Eero Saarinen. After listening, the group gathered their cameras and tripods and framed shots of the building’s iconic structure, focusing on its unique architecture.
