Kleinhans Music Hall Overview
Built in 1939, Kleinhans Music Hall was designed by the famous Finnish father-and-son team of Eliel and Eero Saarinen, along with architects F.J. and W.A Kidd. Kleinhans is known for its combination of graceful structural beauty and extraordinary acoustics. The design of Kleinhans Music Hall resembles the body of a string instrument, as does the main auditorium.
Main Auditorium
The auditorium is known the world over for its extraordinary acoustics and its clean, warm lines. With its plush seating for 2400, it serves as home for the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, among other local performing arts organizations. Throughout the year, it hosts a large number of touring performances, conferences, concerts, and awards ceremonies. The main foyer, where patrons have gathered during intermission for more than 70 years, can accommodate 250 to 500 people for cocktail parties, receptions, dinners, and weddings.
Mary Seaton Room
Named in memory of Mary Seaton Kleinhans, the smaller of the performance spaces is charming. The warmth of exquisite wood work, grand open spaces and the intricate flooring provides an ideal setting for events ranging from recitals and receptions to grand dinners and weddings. The room has a small stage with a piano, controlled sound and lighting systems, dance floor, kitchen, and bar facilities. This space seats 100 to 500 guests for a sit-down dinner, up to 1000 for a stand-up reception or up to 700 for concert seating.
Livingston Hall
Named in memory of Mary Livingston, mother of Edward Kleinhans, Livingston Hall is ideal for intimate receptions, business meetings and private dinners or lunches.
Marcato at Kleinhans
Set in the modern boldness of Kleinhans, Marcato is a venue that works in every way. Tastefully remodeled to echo the original architectural magnificence, this place has everything you need to stage the perfect event. This beautiful, efficient space can accommodate a sit-down dinner for up to 180 lucky people, or a stand-up cocktail reception for 250.
