SUMMARY:SatchVai Band Ft Joe Satriani and Steve Vai with Animals As Leaders
DESCRIPTION:Following their highly successful debut band tour across Europe this past June and July — which saw numerous sold-out shows and glowing praise from fans and press alike — legendary guitar icons Joe Satriani and Steve Vai are bringing their electrifying SATCHVAI Band to the United States for the first time. The “Surfing with the Hydra” 2026 tour will launch on April 1 in Seattle\, WA and continue on throughout April and May before winding up in Vienna\, VA at Wolf Trap on May 30. Animals as Leaders will support on all dates. \nThis new chapter follows a monumental summer that took the newly formed band through major cities including London\, Manchester\, Paris\, Copenhagen\, Zurich\, and more as well as festivals including Hellfest\, Umbria Jazz Festival\, and Guitares en Scene Fest\, thrilling audiences with the unmatched interplay and energy that only Satriani and Vai can deliver. Now\, with a brand-new video and single\, “Dancing\,” arriving March 2\, 2026 via earMUSIC\, the guitar greats are ready to bring that same firepower to stages across America. \n“The SATCH/VAI Band rides again! After a fantastic European tour last summer Steve\, Kenny\, Marco\, Pete and I will bring the Surfing With The Hydra Tour to the US. We can’t wait to play you the new material from our forthcoming Satch/Vai album along with your favorite songs from our shared catalog. And that’s not all\, we’re bringing along the incomparable Animals As Leaders. You do not want to miss this show with this lineup!” – Joe Satriani \nSteve Vai concurs\, “The Satch/Vai Band summer Euro tour of 2025 far exceeded anything I could have imagined. Joe and I struck pure jammin’ gold night after night. Being in the same band with Joe\, playing songs we actually wrote together on stage\, in real time felt like watching a childhood fantasy step out of my teenage brain and stroll onto the stage. And somehow\, it was even more rewarding\, satisfying\, and downright fulfilling than I ever thought possible. \nOur trusty band—Marco Mendoza holding down the bass with his usual thunder\, Pete Thorn weaving in the magic on guitar\, and Kenny Aronoff powering the whole thing from behind the kit\, we created a musical flying carpet that carried us through the tour. \nAnd to all the fans who came out and supported the show: massive thanks. Your energy and enthusiasm made the room pulse\, and inspired us all beyond beyond. We are looking forward to steamroll this train into your city on our 2026 spring North America tour.” \nThe band’s forthcoming single “Dancing” marks the latest chapter in SATCHVAI Band’s creative evolution. It follows the duo’s first two releases — the sweeping\, cinematic instrumental “The Sea of Emotion\, Pt. 1” and the high-octane rocker “I Wanna Play My Guitar\,” featuring powerhouse vocals from Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple\, Black Country Communion). Together\, these tracks have showcased both the emotional depth and unbridled energy that define the SATCHVAI Band sound — a seamless fusion of melody\, virtuosity\, and the kind of musical chemistry only five decades of friendship can produce. \nThe SATCHVAI Band marks the first time in their nearly 50-year friendship and musical partnership that Satriani and Vai have formally joined forces as a band. Their collaboration debuted in March 2024 with a duo tour and the release of “The Sea of Emotion\, Pt. 1\,” a stunning six-minute opus showcasing their extraordinary synergy. A second track\, released ahead of the European tour\, further fueled anticipation for what has become one of the year’s most celebrated live events. \nRounding out the lineup\, powerhouse drummer Kenny Aronoff\, renowned bassist Marco Mendoza\, and virtuoso guitarist Pete Thorn complete the stellar quintet that is the SATCHVAI Band — a live ensemble built for explosive musicianship and unbridled guitar mastery. \nAnimals As Leaders\, Tosin Abasi said of the tour\, “We are beyond honored to be joining Joe Satriani and Steve Vai on tour!  Our band\, in many ways\, would not be what it was if not for the impact of these two icons. Getting a chance to hit the US with them is a bucket list experience for us. Can’t want to see you all soon!”

DESCRIPTION:Kleinhans Music Hall & JazzBuffalo present\nEmmet Cohen Presents Miles & Coltrane at 100\nSunday\, May 17\, 2026 | 3 PM\nThe Mary Seaton Room\nIn a landmark celebration of two of the most transformative figures in jazz history\, pianist Emmet Cohen returns to Buffalo to honor the centennials of Miles Davis and John Coltrane. This special Jazz at Kleinhans presentation brings together Cohen and an all-star quintet for a profound exploration of the music\, spirit\, and innovation that defined these towering icons. \n\n \nGuided by the legacies of Davis and Coltrane\, Cohen and his ensemble will reimagine the music that forever changed the course of jazz—probing the same fundamental questions that fueled their artistry: Why are we here? He approaches jazz as a living\, evolving conversation—one that connects audiences to the infinite spirit of sound and to each other. In this special concert\, his quintet will channel the timeless power of Miles and Coltrane\, not through imitation\, but through discovery\, spontaneity\, and reverence for the enduring questions these artists left behind. \nJoin us at Kleinhans Music Hall for a Jazz at Kleinhans experience that promises to be more than a concert: a bold and deeply moving reimagining of the sound world of two geniuses\, brought vividly to life by one of today’s most brilliant jazz artists and his all-star ensemble.

Over the past four decades\, Anastasio\, who Rolling Stone named as one of “The 250 Greatest Guitarists of All Time\,” has forged a singular\, multi-faceted career\, winning acclaim and garnering accolades across myriad genres and disciplines\, including rock\, classical\, musical theatre\, and more. Anastasio has received three GRAMMY® Award nominations and\, in 2013\, received a Tony Award nomination honoring his work co-writing the score for the Broadway musical Hands on a Hardbody. An accomplished composer and arranger\, Anastasio has performed his original compositions with numerous symphonies\, including The New York Philharmonic\, The National Symphony Orchestra\, The Los Angeles Philharmonic\, The Boston Pops\, and many more. \nAnastasio\, along with Jon Fishman (drums\, vocals)\, Mike Gordon (bass\, vocals)\, and Page McConnell (keyboards\, vocals)\, formed Phish in Burlington\, VT\, and together have since earned one of music’s most dedicated fan communities for its blend of distinctive songcraft\, extended improvisation\, and immersive live performances\, all fusing a variety of genres into their own freewheeling sound and vision. The band has released 16 studio albums and is widely recognized among live music’s most beloved and inventive artists. \nPhish has played over 2\,000 shows since their formation\, regularly selling out multiple nights at arenas\, amphitheaters\, and stadiums across North America. To date\, the band has performed 91 sold-out shows at The Garden since their debut there in 1994. In addition\, Phish have influenced a new generation of American rock festivals through 11 self-produced festivals\, including\, most recently\, 2024’s Mondegreen\, which was celebrated in a GQ feature that hailed them for “what may be the most singular and stubbornly idiosyncratic career of any major American rock band.” In 2024\, the band performed a four-night sold-out run at Sphere in Las Vegas\, the second act to perform there\, following U2’s inaugural run at the groundbreaking venue. \nAnastasio is the founder of the Divided Sky Foundation (DSF)\, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to help people find joy in recovery from drugs and alcohol. In the fall of 2020\, Anastasio hosted a live-streamed musical residency now known as the Beacon Jams\, which spanned eight consecutive Fridays and were broadcast online while live chat boards offered real-time interaction between Trey and the Phish fan community. These now-legendary performances were a joyful respite from the isolation of the pandemic and raised a remarkable $1.2 million for DSF in order to help open a recovery center dedicated to treating those affected by alcoholism and addiction. Through the community’s generosity\, the Divided Sky Residential Recovery Program was born. Opened in November of 2023 in beautiful Ludlow\, VT\, it has now offered compassionate treatment to hundreds of individuals in a safe\, nurturing environment. Rooted in the 12 Steps\, Emotional Sobriety\, and mindfulness\, Divided Sky addresses the root causes of addiction and never turns away anyone due to financial need.

SUMMARY:Buddy Guy
DESCRIPTION:Soul of Buffalo Proudly Presents\nBUDDY GUY 90\nSat JULY 18\, 2026 | 7pm\nLiving Legend Makes 1st Appearance at Kleinhans for His 90th Birthday!\nMore than 57 years after his first known appearance in Buffalo\, NY – at blues guitarist James Paterson’s Governor’s Inn at 621 Sycamore St. in March\, 1969 – and then again during the 1969 Buffalo Blues Festival\, July 11-13\, 1969\, when he was just 33 years old – with co-headliners Muddy Waters\, Howlin’ Wolf\, James Cotton Blues Band\, Luthor Allison and Junior Wells – Living Blues Legend BUDDY GUY celebrates his 90th birthday 12 days early in historic fashion at KLEINHANS MUSIC HALL\, Buffalo\, NY on Saturday\, July 18\, 2026 at 7pm. \nBuddy Guy stands as one of the most influential guitarists in American music. As a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee and a pioneer of Chicago’s explosive West Side sound\, he has been a guiding force for generations of rock & blues legends. \nThe nine-time GRAMMY winner has also earned a Lifetime Achievement GRAMMY\, 38 Blues Music Awards\, the Billboard Century Award\, the Presidential National Medal of Arts\, and the Kennedy Center Honor. Rolling Stone ranks him #23 on “The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time.” \nBorn in 1936 in Lettsworth\, Louisiana\, Buddy built his first two-string guitar at age seven. His life changed in 1957 when he moved to Chicago and began recording for Chess Records and collaborating with its legendary roster. His raw emotion\, showmanship\, and blistering guitar style reshaped the instrument’s possibilities and set a new standard for electric blues. \nRemarkably\, in 2025 – after a career which includes 110 albums\, singles and live recordings – he released Ain’t Done with the Blues\, produced by longtime collaborator Tom Hambridge\, another Buffalo favorite. The record features The Blind Boys of Alabama\, Peter Frampton\, Joe Walsh\, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram\, and Joe Bonamassa. Its lead single\, “How Blues Is That?” reaffirmed the grit\, humor\, and wisdom that define his late-career longevity. \nAs Buddy shared\, “This album is about where I’ve been and where I’m going… Before they passed\, Muddy\, Wolf\, Walter\, Sonny Boy\, B.B. used to say\, ‘If you outlive me\, just keep the blues alive.’ I’m trying to keep that promise.” \nAin’t Done drew widespread acclaim\, praising Buddy as “masterful\,” “vital\,” and “one of the last of the great bluesmen.” Around the same time\, his appearance in Ryan Coogler’s blockbuster movie SINNERS introduced him to yet another generation. \nNow\, as he celebrates his 90th year\, Buddy Guy remains one of the last surviving architects of electric blues; a bridge from the fields of Louisiana to the clubs of Chicago and the world’s biggest stages. Whether creating new music\, inspiring rising artists\, or electrifying audiences with a fire that has defined him for nearly a century\, Buddy Guy continues to show that the blues not only lives\, it thrives. \nTickets prices for BUDDY GUY 90 start at only $55\, plus fees. Don’t miss the BIGGEST BLUES show of 2026 in our hometown!

Frogs can turn nearly invisible\, leap more than 20 times their body length\, and defend themselves with poison. We go on assignment with conservation biologist and National Geographic Explorer Jonathan Kolby to discover all kinds of incredible abilities and springy biodiversity. \nAbout Jonathan Kolby:  \nJonathan Kolby became involved in wildlife conservation at the age of 15\, when he volunteered on his first expedition to document biodiversity in Southeast Asia. He has since been involved in 20 field expeditions spanning the globe\, from Honduras to Madagascar to Hong Kong. In 2007\, Kolby was awarded a National Geographic Young Explorers Grant to study chytrid fungus and amphibian declines in Honduras. After completing this project\, Kolby decided to dedicate himself to combatting global amphibian declines and extinction. He recently established the Honduras Amphibian Research & Conservation Center to specifically prevent amphibian extinctions in Honduras. Kolby completed his Ph.D. at James Cook University in Australia\, where he studied the global spread of amphibian chytrid fungus and ranavirus. Kolby has published over a dozen scientific papers\, written blog posts for National Geographic and the IUCN Amphibian Specialist Group\, and currently runs a citizen science project on iNaturalist called “Saving Salamanders with Citizen Science” to help monitor for the emergence of salamander chytrid fungus in the United States. To make science more accessible to the general public\, Kolby actively uses photography and social media to help raise awareness about wildlife conservation issues. He also manages a YouTube channel featuring videos and short films produced for the Honduras Amphibian Research & Conservation Center.

SUMMARY:Branford Marsalis and Dianne Reeves
DESCRIPTION:Kleinhans Music Hall and JazzBuffalo present\nBranford Marsalis and Dianne Reeves\nCelebrate The Ballads of John Coltrane\nThursday\, April 22\, 2027 | 7 PM\nMain Hall\, Kleinhans Music Hall\nSome music asks to be heard. John Coltrane’s ballads ask to be felt. \nOn April 22\, 2027\, at 7 pm\, Kleinhans Music Hall and JazzBuffalo present an extraordinary and deeply moving musical event as two NEA Jazz Masters and multiple Grammy Award winners — Branford Marsalis and Dianne Reeves — come together to celebrate the timeless ballads of John Coltrane\, which they have recorded and will release on the centennial of Coltrane’s birth this September. \nThis is not a retrospective. It is not a recreation. \nIt is a living\, breathing artistic conversation centered on some of the most intimate and emotionally transcendent music ever recorded in jazz. \nAt the heart of the evening is the landmark 1963 recording John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman — a masterwork of tenderness and restraint that revealed Coltrane’s profoundly romantic and melodic voice. Pairing his searching tenor saxophone with Hartman’s velvet baritone\, the album remains one of the most beloved ballad recordings in jazz and American Music history — and the only studio album in which Coltrane featured a vocalist. \nIn this rare collaboration\, the Branford Marsalis Quartet and Dianne Reeves revisit this sacred repertoire while honoring the broader lyricism\, depth\, romantic\, and spiritual resonance of Coltrane’s ballad legacy. \nThe collaboration will also be captured in a forthcoming recording of timeless ballads—including selections from the historic John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman—set for release this September in celebration of the centennial of John Coltrane’s birth\, offering audiences a rare opportunity to experience this deeply expressive music reimagined by Branford Marsalis and Dianne Reeves. \nAs part of a limited world tour — including Carnegie Hall in New York City\, The Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto\, The Concertgebouw in Amsterdam\, Munich’s Gasteig\, and the 60th Barcelona Jazz Festival — Buffalo stands among a select number of U.S. cities chosen to host this remarkable engagement. \nThe Main Hall of Kleinhans Music Hall provides the perfect setting. Its warmth and acoustical clarity allow music of this intimacy to bloom fully — every breath\, every phrase\, every nuance suspended in space. \nBranford Marsalis brings commanding tone\, interpretive intelligence\, and emotional authority to Coltrane’s music. Dianne Reeves\, one of the most celebrated vocalists of her generation\, brings unparalleled expressive depth — her voice capable of both quiet vulnerability and soaring declaration. Together\, they illuminate the tenderness\, romance\, and quiet spiritual power that define Coltrane’s ballads. \nThis evening promises lyricism. It promises beauty. It promises emotional connection at the highest artistic level. \nFor Jazz at Kleinhans\, this performance represents a defining moment in our continued commitment to presenting world-class artistry in Buffalo — concerts that resonate long after the final note fades. \nBuffalo is proud to be one of the few cities welcoming this landmark collaboration. \nSeats for an event of this magnitude are expected to move quickly. \nEarly reserved seating is strongly encouraged. \nAbout Branford Marsalis \nFrom his initial recognition as a young jazz lion\, Branford Marsalis has expanded his vision as an instrumentalist\, composer\, bandleader\, and educator\, crossing stylistic boundaries while maintaining an unwavering creative integrity. In the process\, he has become an avatar of contemporary artistic excellence\, winning three Grammy Awards\, a Tony nomination for his work as a composer on Broadway\, a citation by the National Endowment for the Arts as Jazz Master\, and a 2021 Primetime Emmy nomination for the score he composed for the Tulsa Burning documentary. \nAbout Dianne Reeves \nFive-time Grammy winner Dianne Reeves is one of the world’s premier jazz singers. With her improvisational virtuosity and unique jazz and R&B style\, Reeves won the Grammy for Best Jazz Vocal Performance for three consecutive recordings\, winning the first Grammy in a vocal category. She was featured in George Clooney’s award-winning film Goodnight and Good Luck\, for which she received a Grammy. Reeves holds honorary doctorates from DePaul University\, the Berklee College of Music\, and the Juilliard School. Like Marsalis\, she was named a Jazz Master by the National Endowment for the Arts – the highest distinction awarded to jazz artists in the USA.
