XV:29\nBeethoven – Trio in D Major\, Op. 70\, No. 1 “Ghost”\nDvořák – Piano Trio No.2 in G minor\, Op.26\n \n  \n  \nAbout the Trio Solisti\nMaria Bachmann\, violin\nAlexis Pia Gerlach\, cello\nFabio Bidini\, piano   \n \nTrio Solisti’s distinction as “the most exciting piano trio in America” (The New Yorker) is affirmed by recent rave reviews: “The superlative Trio Solisti gave an immaculate and insightful performance” (The Dallas Chamber Music Society – Theater Jones)\, “a compelling performance…Trio Solisti really knocked it out of the ballpark” (Chamber Music Monterrey Bay – Peninsula Reviews)\, and “the most fully explored\, interestingly probed\, and fully engaged [performance of the Brahms Trio in B major] that I’ve ever experienced. Chamber music connoisseurs should absolutely not miss Trio Solisti” (Rockport Chamber Music Festival – The Boston Musical Intelligencer). Noted Wall Street Journal critic Terry Teachout proclaimed the ensemble to be “the group that to my mind has now succeeded the Beaux Arts Trio as the outstanding chamber music ensemble of its kind\,” and The New Yorker described it as “probably the finest American piano trio currently on the field.”

SUMMARY:Bob Poole: Nature Roars Back
DESCRIPTION:Experience an epic African wildlife park through the eyes of an Emmy Award-winning natural history cinematographer. \nA childhood in East Africa gave Emmy Award-winning cinematographer Bob Poole a fierce curiosity about the natural world as well as an adventurous spirit. For a six-part PBS/Nat Geo International series\, Bob drew on that experience to document the rebirth of a lost Eden: Mozambique’s Gorongosa National Park\, a jewel of Africa’s parks system until civil war almost destroyed it. There\, he joined forces with rangers and scientists (including his sister\, renowned elephant researcher Joyce Poole)\, on perhaps the biggest conservation project on the planet. He’ll share secrets of filming lions\, crocs\, elephants\, and spectacular scenery\, and tell how he cracked the “Gorongosa code”—learning to read the landscape and find prime locations for filming the park’s spectacular wildlife. \nJoin the acclaimed cinematographer and filmmaker for unforgettable images and stories of Gorongosa’s majestic animals—and learn how the wild places we’ve broken can be put back together. \nTickets are $75 for a VIP experience that includes reserved seating and an invitation to a pre-event reception; $35 for general admission; and $15 for students.\nA two-event National Geographic Live package is available for $140 VIP; $60 general admission. SUMMARY:Art of Jazz: Christian Sands High Wire Trio
DESCRIPTION:Five-time Grammy-nominee and Creative Ambassador for the Erroll Garner Jazz Project\, the dynamic pianist Christian Sands pays tribute to Erroll Garner\, beloved for Concert by the Sea\, one of the top-selling albums in jazz history\, and his classic ballad “Misty” and acclaimed as “the man for whom the piano was invented” (Newsweek). Formerly featured in the Christian McBride Trio\, Sands and his High Wire Trio dazzle audiences with their fresh take on the genius of Erroll Garner. \n  \n  \nAbout the Art of Jazz at the Philharmonic series:\nWith the temporary closure of the Albright-Knox Art Gallery for expansion\, the Gallery’s long-running Art of Jazz series will find an interim home in 2020 in the Mary Seaton Room at Kleinhans Music Hall. Produced by series founder Bruce Eaton\, the Art of Jazz at the Philharmonic series is internationally renowned for presenting a dazzling array of the world’s premier jazz artists and has been heralded as “the most successful music series of its kind in Western New York history” (Buffalo News). \nSeries producer Eaton notes\, “Kleinhans has a rich jazz history going back to the 1940s and 1950s when it was a regular stop on the Jazz at the Philharmonic tours that brought artists like Ella Fitzgerald\, Lester Young\, Oscar Peterson\, and Charlie Parker to Buffalo. It’s exciting to be able add a new chapter to this distinguished legacy.” \n

SUMMARY:Buffalo Chamber Music Society: Dover/Escher Quartets
DESCRIPTION:Program\nShostakovich Octet\nEnescu Octet\nINTERMISSION\nMendelssohn Octet \n\n\nAbout the Dover Quartet\nJoel Link violin\nBryan Lee\, violin\nMilena Pajaro-van de Stadt\, viola\nCamden Shaw\, cello\n \nThe phenomenal Dover Quartet catapulted to international stardom following a stunning sweep of the 2013 Banff Competition. Recently named the Cleveland Quartet Award winner\, and awarded the coveted Avery Fisher Career Grant\, the Dover has become one of the most in-demand ensembles in the world. The Quartet’s rise from up-and-coming young ensemble to occupying a spot at the top of their field has been “practically meteoric” (Strings). With its burnished warmth\, incisive rhythms\, and natural phrasing\, the Quartet’s distinctive sound has helped confirm its status as “the young American string quartet of the moment” (New Yorker). The Quartet serves as the quartet-in-residence for the Bienen School of Music at Northwestern University \nhttp://www.doverquartet.com \nAbout the Escher Quartet\nAdam Barnett-Hart\, violin\nDanbi Um\, violin\nPierre Lapointe\, viola\nBrook Speltz\, cello\n \nThe Escher String Quartet has received acclaim for its expressive\, nuanced performances that combine unusual textural clarity with a rich\, blended sound. A former BBC New Generation Artist\, the quartet has performed at the BBC Proms at Cadogan Hall and is a regular guest at Wigmore Hall. In its home town of New York\, the ensemble serves as Season Artists of The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center\, where it has presented the complete Zemlinsky Quartets Cycle as well as being one of five quartets chosen to collaborate in a complete presentation of Beethoven’s string quartets. Last season\, the quartet toured with CMS to China. \nhttps://escherquartet.com/
