BUFFALO, NY – A special pair of birthdays was celebrated at Kleinhans Music Hall on Thursday. The father-and-son team who designed the national historic landmark auditorium were both born on August 20.
To mark the occasion the hall underwent a few renovations, like new seats and carpeting, and some added safety features. There will also be a new archive room to celebrate the building’s history.
“We’re going to display all of the artifacts from all of our visitors and some of the building artifacts from our two world-class architects who were brought in to design the building … Eliel and Eero Saarinen,” Kleinhans Board Chairman Chris Brown told us.
Kleinhans has had around 15 million visitors since it first opened in 1940, which comes to about 200,000 visitors per year.
