International Youth Choir Concert featuring Leticia of Finland
Wednesday, June 27
Kleinhans Music Hall, 7:00 pm | Free
The ABC Bel Canto Choir and the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra are co-hosting a visiting youth choir Leticia from Finland, conducted by Saara Kemppainen. They are returning from their performance at Carnegie Hall, and have a one-day stay in Buffalo on their way to Toronto.
They will be at Kleinhans Music Hall, working and singing with ABC Bel Canto, with Sue Fay Allen, and the participating choir from Country Parkway Elementary School in Williamsville, under the direction of Jennifer Kopp and City Honors under Beth Newton. Each of the choirs will teach the others some of their favorite pieces. The choirs will then present a combined concert Wednesday evening at 7 PM in the Mary Seaton Room at Kleinhans. Each choir will perform individually, and the finale will be composed of those songs which were learned from each other that very day. Through-out the day, the choirs will not only learn different songs, but also gain an appreciation for another culture and country. Experiencing the music of the different choirs will result in friendships and fun for them all!
Concert admission is free, and the public is welcome. Please note, the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra is not performing at this event.
